Long Beach NY Wedding at the Allegra Hotel – Ashleigh and Scott

Allegra hotel wedding

The amazing wedding of Ashleigh and Scott from the Allegra Hotel in Long Beach, NY. What more can I say, wowsers!

Ashleigh had been a bride’s maid in a previous wedding that I had photographed with Nadia and Chris several years ago. It’s always great to be able to photograph someone we have already worked with, now for their wedding. It’s such a different dynamic to seeing them having been a wedding party member and now the bride! Of course it’s equally great to see Nadia again as she was part of the wedding party for Ashleigh.

This was my first trip to a NY beach and it was definitely neat. It has a completely different feel to it then even the New Jersey beaches.

We start with some stunning photos of Ashleigh’s gorgeous  wedding gown, designed by Marchesa. Some of my favorite wedding shoe photos of the year came with her Jimmy Cho0 shoes. Definitely check those out ladies.

Then we get to the absolutely amazing rooftop ceremony location at the Allegra Hotel. Breathtaking. We were blessed that day with blue skies and great weather. Their ceremony took place right past the pool which also gave another neat eliminate to the ceremony decor.

We had some great emotions from the bride and parents coming down the isle, which I of course absolutely love! We photographed all of their portraits on the boardwalk and throughout parts of the very stylish hotel.

The ballroom at the Allegra was decorated with various changing uplighting and decor which are featured in some of the photos below.

Check out a sampling of some of the photographs from their wedding. Don’t forget to give us a call about your 2015 or 2016 wedding or engagement sessions!! Call at: 570-690-2019

New York City “Forever” Photo Session available for the Holidays!

New York City Engagement Sessions

That is right folks, for now until January 7th. I have available a few sessions for a New York Experience that you will never forget!! Due to shorter daylight times I only have available 2 spots per day, and 1 spot at night if someone wants to do a night shoot, so that I can still give everyone the fullest photographic experience possible.

What on earth is a “Forever Session” you might say? It’s an amazing opportunity for us to help you fall in love with each other even deeper then you are now. A way for us to explore who you are as individuals as well as a couple. This means you do not have to be engaged to take advantage of having an amazing experience and one that will help you grow even closer to each other. I repeat, you do not have to be an engaged couple.

You can be married, dating , or even just great friends! Maybe it’s to reconnect with your mom or dad? What an amazing experience for your parents or grandparents? The idea of calling it a “Forever Session” is because this is something that I want you to have forever to enjoy and reminder this time in your life. In the hustle and bustle of today, people often forget to stop and focus on showing each other what they love about each other. It is so important, and makes this more then just taking photos together. That is an amazing side benefit.

In addition to your session in New York City, these will also include a Design Consultation to help you take those moments to the next level by having them ready to display in your home, where you will be able to cherish them every day as you look at them. The power of an image is being able to see it on those days where you really need a pick me up or as a reminder for you or the two of you of the things you learned about each other during your session.

New York City Engagement Sessions

New York city has endless opportunities for photos. Here are just a few ideas

1. The absolutely stunning Central ParkEndless possibilities in every corner of this park and I could create in there forever!

2. Rockefeller Center: Be it the Christmas village, the ice skating rink (they do charge for that), or just around the area of the massive decorated tree and ornaments (that tree is from PA!!)

3. Your favorite “town”: China Town, Little Italy (extra deocrated for the holidays), The Village, SoHo, Chelsea, and so many more I am probably missing

4. DUMBO Park: Stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. It’s a great little park and over look area with a beautiful city skyline. This is where I photographed Jaime’s Dance Photos that I posted a while back.

5. Over the river: There are also some great looks on the New Jersey side looking back into the city. The benefit of this is you avoid some of the crowds.

6. Bryant Park: Another area that will have a great Christmas village and lots of decorations and lights as well as their own skating rink. A plus is that skating is free here, only pay to rent your skates.

7. A Carriage Ride: Get them while they last! A staple of NYC is the horse drawn carriage rides. These soon might be gone folks so enjoy a snuggle while you can! (note a fee applies for these)

8. Take the tour: Do a little bit of everything! I will have an option for you to have me for the entire day where we can go all over the place exploring and creating photos and memories. Since this will block off the entire day (pretty much), this will be an exclusive add on that you will need to invest in, but definitely well worth it! Ask about this option!

9. The High Line: Have you ever seen the High Line? If not you are missing out. One of the coolest things in the city and it goes for miles! Tons of different looks and possibilities and amazing skyline views.

10. GET ENGAGED!!!: How cool would that be? After a day of capturing the love you two have for each other, and increasing that connection that you have for each other, that you end the day with a proposal in the lights of New York City!!! Now THAT will be a proposal story that not only you can tell people forever, but that you can show them throughout the images from the day. PERFECT!

Hit somewhere I missed mentioning: Every time I go to NYC I find something new, so I am sure I am missing something! Let me know what means something to you in New York City!

Englewood and Hoboken NJ – Engagement Photos

Hoboken Engagmeent Photos

Laurie and Brian’s engagement session was a lot of fun! It took me to places that I have not yet been to, which for me is always a gift. It allows me to explore and create in an environment that I have not yet tapped into, which sparks tons of new ideas. As you can see in the first image above, this is just a random wall of a parking deck in which I loved the continuing pattern and the additional graphic added to it by the sunlight and shadow of the trees.

Their engagement went to several locations that meant a lot to them as they were dating. This is something that I always highly recommend when selecting your locations. We started in Englewood NJ and went to the Englewood boat basin. We then went to this amazing location called Englewood Cliffs, where we were able to get a cool overlook of the city. Following that, we jumped in the car to head to Hoboken, NJ near the waterfront and piers as well as the Frank Sinatra Park. Finally ending in the town more of Hoboken where there was a street fair taking place.

We had absolutely beautiful weather, amazing skies, and a great couple. This makes my job easy in creating photos.  Take a look at a few more images below from their session.

2015 bookings are heating up as we enter one of the busiest time of year for people getting engaged. Book us now by going HERE or call 570-690-2019

Long Island NY – A little ocean front, a little Central Park

long island ny engagement session

This was a pretty fun engagement session with Ashleigh and Scott in Long Island City NY and Central Park in NYC.

Every time I go to Central Park I find places that I have never shot at before. It’s such an interesting place and walking around you would never know that you are in New York City.

Ashleigh and Scott live in Long Island City which is where we started, with some amazing photos with their cute little dog by the river front with the city skyline in the background. We then went into Central Park area for photos in various spots as well as in Strawberry Fields which is a beautiful walking path.

Check back soon where we will be showing off the wedding photos from this couple who got married at the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach NY.

Hello everyone

on the streets fujixpro1 review

I love this photo. It was a random person on the streets in time square, but there was something about how he was holding his bag covered in plastic that gave him a sense of ‘lost’ that I really enjoyed as well as the contrast of the white plastic and his black coat. All of the people around him add to that lost feeling as well as the expression on his face

It’s been a while, but I’ve been knee deep in working on everyone’s wedding photos for them. Today I wanted to post some images from my recent trip to New York City to get to know and fall in love more with my Fuji Xpro1 and x100s camera. If you are not familiar with these cameras, they are a throw back to a more simple time with a digital version of some of the old style film cameras. They are perfect cameras for street and photojournalism moments which I love.

With these cameras I also LOVE photographing in black and white. I just feel it fits the mood of these cameras nicely. The contrast in the city is also perfect for showing both the grit and the beauty of it.

Most of these photos were taken in Times Square, and on the subway. Street photography is a growing passion of mine. I just think it’s a lot of fun and really gets your creative eye going. I am far from where I want to be yet with this style, but I hope you enjoy some of the images that I took. A lot of these were testing the abilities of the camera but also some great moments I think.

I found myself interested in taking pictures of everyone on their phones and taking ‘selfies’ type of photos. There is something about taking a photo of them while they were taking a photo was interesting.

Below are a few of these images for you to enjoy and I will try to make a few notes on each. Leave comments below on what is your favorite photo!

couple nyc fujixpro1

I love photographing the older couples holding hands as they walk through the streets. It’s the simple things some times. I also find photographing in the intersections are some of the best spots.

One of the ‘selfies’ photos that I took of people taking photos of themselves

This one was one of my favorites. I liked how the three people in a triangle around the coupe in the middle were all taking photos with their phones and all facing in different directions

A bit of a cliche NYC time square photo but…. they were in good light, so what can I say

A great test of the cameras dynamic range with the buildings and sky as well as the black and white contrast. That bit of sunshine reflection peaking through the building adds a little something extra to the photo

I took this one just thinking it would be a good test of the macro mode of the camera. It turned out really neat with the black and white contrast but also all of the texture that was in the garbage can. The bent, punched in part of the garbage can is what makes this interesting

Another shot from the subway

This is a photo I took while at the PhotoPlus Expo at the Javit’s center.

new york city streets fuji xpro1

What I liked about this one is all of the contrasting lines in the street , mixed with the guy in black walking across the street balanced with the white car on the other side. The fact that the guys left photo is in motion in the air, adds that needed bit of motion to the photo

There was just something interesting about this guy as I road the path train into NYC

fuji xpro1 new york path train photo

A random group of people across the seat on the subway with me. I liked the contrast of the white coat in the middle of two darker coats.

Hello everyone

Here is a quick post to show off some of the really cool photos I did in DUMBO park in Brooklyn, NY with Catapult member and local Jaime Verazin.

Jaime, originally from the Wilkes Barre, PA area, is someone that I had photographed several years ago and is a real blast to work with. We decided a few weeks ago to get together again and have some fun in New York City taking some photos! It was tons of fun per usual.

Working with a dancer is really different an interesting as they have a real sense of how to move in front of the camera (obviously). But it’s also fun because they seem to like to just jump on random things and make them into dance props, just as I love to photography by creating things out of nothing. So it’s a great fit!

I will be doing more in the future with dancers, as well as hopefully Jaime.

But for now make sure to tune in tonight on America’s Got Talent on NBC at 9pm to see her perform with the group Catapult.

If you didn’t see it before, Catapult is the group of dancers that uses shadows and created a scene of a diamond heist.

If you are a dancer and want to be considered for my upcoming dance photo and video projects, please feel free to send me a message with your information.

Enjoy and good luck tonight Jaime!

P.S. Even more photos to come soon!

DAY 19 – STORY OF THE IMAGE: NYC Engagement between yellow cabs

engagement session times square

Engagement Session in Times Square New York City, NY

This is a really fun image from the engagement session in Times Square New York City with Sean and Ashley. We started their session in Central Park and by night time we were in the Times Square area to take this shot.

I saw a bunch of NYC yellow cabs as the light would turn red pile up. I told Sean and Ashley the next time the light turned red, I wanted them to quickly jump out into the middle of traffic and grab each others hand and walk in between the cabs. Granted, looking back on it, it seems more dangerous then it did at the time.

My couples have a lot of faith and trust in me, which allowed us to get an image like this. They didn’t even hesitate at the idea, because I think they knew I had something cool in mind and I wouldn’t put them in harms way.

Engagement sessions are tons of fun, and we often now go to the big cities like Philadelphia or New York City spending half the day making fun photos.

If you like this post, leave a facebook like or G+1 button, or of course leave a comment telling me what you think of this image.

kennebunkport maine wedding photo

Hello everyone

I come to you with the first of 4 big announcement that we have coming out in the next few weeks! I am happy to let you know that we have been selected as a member of the FEARLESS photographers group. This is a group that features photographers that think outside of the box of the normal wedding boring photos, and create one of a kind images.

We are the only photographer with this association in the Scranton and Wilkes Barre area. The above image was taken in Kennebunkport, Maine.

“Fearless Photographers is a directory of more than 1,800 of the world’s boldest wedding photographers for brides and grooms who truly love photography”… Fearless website

This month we will be sending in a ton of our work to be considered for what is called the Fearless Photo Awards, showcases only the top 5-10% of that already exclusive group. I am excited to submit and have our images featured.

It is not enough to just be a “Fearless” photographer, but it also requires “Fearless” couples that give us the trust to photograph your wedding while also creating something truly different and one of a kind.

Are you Fearless??? Then we are the photographer for you!
